What large disposal options are available?

Ipswich City Council offers more ways for residents to get rid of large household items.

Residents can choose between an on-demand collection service or a waste voucher for use at Resource Recovery Centres, making it easier to dispose of large items such as white goods, mattresses and furniture.

Flexible options help create a fairer system and support responsible disposal with greater convenience.

The FLEXiSKiP service lets residents order a large item bag for bulky household waste. The bag is delivered to the property, and once filled, residents can book a collection through the portal.

Waste Voucher

Waste Vouchers allow residents one free entry to Riverview or Rosewood Resource Recovery Centres for up to 500kg of domestic household waste.

  • Green waste (lawn clippings, palm fronds, pruning)

  • Clean, dry, intact glass

  • Concrete, bricks and titles

What we don't take

  • Construction and demolition material (excl. concrete, brick and tiles)

  • General household waste and recycling (incl. food scraps)

  • Batteries or mobile phones

  • Exposives

  • Car parts including tyres

  • Hazardous waste (such as gas bottles, asbestos, chemicals, fibro sheets)

  • Medical or biohazard waste

FLEXiSKiP is a practical, heavy-duty disposable skip bag, perfect for removing bulky household items that don't fit in your wheelie bin. It's an affordable and convenient alternative to a traditional steel skip bin.
It will be delivered by our local courier, if you're not home, they have authority to leave it at your door. Deliveries are completed within 10 business days of ordering.
A collection must be booked within 21 days from the date the skip was delivered. After this, a fee will apply and the skip will no longer be eligible for collection by the City. Residents will need to organise the collection directly with FLEXiSKiP or find an alternative method to dispose of their bulky items at their own expense.
No problem, you don't need to be home. Our delivery team will place your FLEXiSKiP in a safe and accessible location on your property. Our collection drivers are experienced and don't require anyone to be present to complete the collection.
Your FLEXiSKiP must be placed
  • Within four (4) metres of the street kerb
  • Clear of any obstructions such as powerlines, trees, driveways, and parked cars
  • In an area with at least nine (9) metres of overhead clearance (e.g. not under power lines or overhanging trees)
  • Loaded so all material is contained inside the skip, not piled around it
Please follow these guidelines carefully. Attempting to move a filled FLEXiSKiP can compromise the bag's structure and may cause personal injury. Non-compliance may result in a failed collection and additional charges.
FLEXiSKiPs are built tough, but they do have limits. Do not fill above the top of the bag, and keep in mind the 165 kg weight limit. Overfilled bags may not be moved thus rejected at collection.
