What large disposal options are available?
Townsville City Council offers more ways for residents to dispose of large household items.
Residents can choose between a FLEXiSKiP service or two Tip Vouchers for use at Council waste facilities, making it easier to dispose of large items such as white goods, mattresses and furniture.
This initiative aims to provide residents with greater choice and convenience, while supporting effective waste management and reducing illegal dumping across the city.

This heavy duty, 2 cubic metre bag, big enough to fit couches, mattresses, washing machines, bikes and other large items.

Tip Vouchers allow eligible residences two free entries to Council waste facilities, with up to 50kg of domestic household waste per entry.

When your FLEXiSKiP is full, it’s time to get it collected. You can submit your collection request at any time. Collections will be processed and occur within 1-10 days, but the exact day is not guaranteed.

What we take
Fridges and freezers;
Furniture, including mattresses (must fit in the FLEXiSKiP; max. 2 mattresses per property).
Electronic waste (including cords and computers);
Hot water systems;
Sinks;
Toys, bicycles, and sporting goods (including outdoor play equipment that fits within the Receptacle);
Tin and scrap iron;
White goods (washers, dryers, stoves, and similar household appliances); and
Wood products.
What we don't take
Bricks and concrete;
Car, truck, or machinery parts, and tyres;
Commercial and builders' waste;
Gas bottles;
Glass and mirrors;
Hazardous waste (for example, chemicals, oil, and asbestos);
Household waste that would normally go in a residential refuse or recycling bin (including food scraps);
Liquids, including paint and oil;
Vegetation and green waste (collected separately via Principal's free year-round green waste drop-off at Resource Recovery Facilities);
Any other item that may present a risk to safety, or that would breach work health and safety manual handling requirements.
